A person doesn’t have to get hit in the head to have a concussion. A blow to the body can reverberate into the head and cause a concussion.
Concussions cannot be seen on Xray, CTscans or MRI.
Symptoms of a concussion include decreased balance, confusion and behavior changes. If any of these occur, stop activity and rest. Get examined by a medical doctor or chiropractor who is trained in concussion. Meggie has taken additional training in concussion protocols. She has helped a lot of people heal after concussion.
Complete rest is NOT necessary after concussion. “Relative Rest” is best. This includes *decreased screen time*. You can keep doing normal daily activities and within 48 hours you can resume light exercise.
The long term effects of concussions are still being understood. Our brains are both incredibly fragile and incredibly dynamic. If you still have a headache or dizziness after 10 days, seek treatment from Meggie or from another local doctor trained in concussion rehab.
