Watch this video to see a powerful way to take your body out of the "fight or flight" state. Crossing the midline, moving your arm or leg from one side of your body to the other, engages multiple parts of your brain at the same time. This helps pull you out of the limbic system, the stress part of your brain, and into areas of your brain that process higher order thought.
Crossing the midline will help you feel more calm and less pain. Do 10 to 20 repetitions on each side every time you notice you are starting to feel stress, pain or overwhelm.
This Epsom Salt burn can be done after stressful visitors are in your home. Meggie also recommends you do it in your hotel or vacation rental if it feels stagnant or heavy in the space. If you don't have a sauce pan, you can do it with a pie pan on a cookie sheet. Just be careful as it will get hot! And your arm will get tired carrying it so far away from your body. So be prepared with a place to put down a hot pan when it gets too hard to hold.
Tie your hair back before you begin!
We do this burn often at Cora. If you notice it feels light and peaceful in the office, part of that is due to this burn! Do it any time you feel like things are heavy or dark.
Meggie bought Chiropractic First in 2012. She has been wanting to change the name since she purchased it!
Cora comes from the Irish word for system. The name honors Meggie's Irish heritage and the awareness that we are all systems. We are greater than the sum of our parts.
We heal when we bring together our body, mind and spirit. We heal when we synchronize our neurology, biochemistry and physiology. We are full of different systems, all of which come together to form our lives. The name Cora honors those connections.
Meggie is still the 100% full owner and operator of the business. She just changed the name to better express the work she has always been doing in the practice.
Meggie has been seeing our 3.5 year old daughter for GI issues and our 1 year old son for sleep and has truly helped both of them. I appreciate her gentle approach, clear communication about what she is noticing, and friendly/nurturing manner with our kids. They both enjoy coming in for their adjustments and we've noticed not only improvements with the presenting concerns, but also lifted moods and increased energy in the days after their sessions.
